Department Of Materials Science And Engineering, Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife, Nigeria . ABSTRACT This study focuses on the characterization of cold briquetted iron (CBI) using powder diffraction techniques. CBI is under-sized metallic fines produced during the direct reduction process (DR-process), which are made into briquettes when they are cold using sodium silicate and lime as binder and flux respectively. Powder sample of CBI was prepared by crushing and grinding some of the briquettes and sieved through 30-microns aperture. Thereafter, the constituent phases in the sample were identified using X-Ray Powder Diffraction (XRD) techniques and scanning electron microscopy. It was observed ...

ABSTRACT In this paper, we report the results obtained from different phases of metal hydrides. The synthesis and characterization of tantalum hydrides were obtained “in situ” during mechanical milling. Elemental Ta with purity of 99.8% was used in this investigation to obtain the hydrides. A highenergy ball milling technique was utilized to prepare hydrogenated phases. Ta hydrides and oxides were formed as function of milling process time. Milling t...

Effect of Chloride Concentration on the Corrosion Rate of Maraging Steel

Read full paper at: http://www.scirp.org/journal/PaperInformation.aspx?PaperID=51073#.VFMJe2fHRK0 ' Author(s)   Hussam El Desouky 1 , Hisham A. Aboeldahab 1,2* Affiliation(s) 1 Chemistry Department, University of Umm Al-Qura, Makka, KSA . 2 Chemistry Department, Faculty of Science, University of Alexandria, Alexandria, Egypt . ABSTRACT The corrosion behavior of Maraging steel has been studied by using different techniques, including open circuit potential and polarization measurements in addition to microstructure examination such as optical microscopy and XRD (X-Ray Diffraction) investigation. The corrosion behavior of Maraging steel has been examined in sodium chloride solutions with different concentrations from 0.1 M to 2 M. It was found that the corrosion resistance of Maraging steel is inversely proportional with the concentration of sodium chloride solution. The corrosion resistance is directly prop...

Matjafri Affiliation(s) Nano-Optoelectronics Research and Technology Laboratory, School of Physics, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang, Malaysia . ABSTRACT In this work ITO thin film annealing was carried out using a CW CO2 laser beam for ITO thin film annealing over a 1 cm2 area with a temperature higher than 250°C to obtain ITO grains with excellent structural quality thin films. The obtained ITO films were characterized for crystallization, surface morphology, electrical and optical properties, which has theoretical significance and application value. ITO thin films are depos...
