Experimental Design and Its Posterior Efficiency for the Calibration of Wearable Sensors

Read  full  paper  at: http://www.scirp.org/journal/PaperInformation.aspx?PaperID=53927#.VNxhYCzQrzE Author(s)   Lin Ye , Steven W. Su Affiliation(s) Centre for Health Technologies, Faculty of Engineering and IT, University of Technology, Sydney, Australia . ABSTRACT This paper investigates experimental design (DoE) for the calibration of the triaxial accelerometers embedded in a wearable micro Inertial Measurement Unit (μ-IMU). Firstly, a new linearization strategy is proposed for the accelerometer model associated with the so-called autocalibration scheme. Then, an effective Icosahedron design is developed, which can achieve both D-optimality and G-optimality for linearized accelerometer model in ideal experimental settings. However, due to various technical limitations, it is often infeasible for the users of wearable sensors to fully implement the proposed experimental scheme. To assess the efficiency of each individual experim...

Two Iron-Age Settlement Sites in Germany: From Field Work via Numerical Modeling towards an Improved Interpretation

ABSTRACT Geophysical exploration of archaeological sites has been a successful tool becoming more and more popular in the last decades. Many archaeological features can be detected with magnetic gradiometry (MGR), such as fire places, burned loam, metal artifac...

Mechanical Behaviour Modelling of an Mg-Stabilized Zirconia Reinforced TRIP-Matrix-Composite under Cold Working Conditions

Read full paper at: http://www.scirp.org/journal/PaperInformation.aspx?PaperID=50234#.VDM1cFfHRK0 Author(s)     Sergey Guk 1 , Wolfhart Müller 1 , Katja Pranke 1 , Rudolf Kawalla 1,2 Affiliation(s) 1 Institute for Metal Forming, TU Bergakademie Freiberg, Freiberg, Germany . 2 Department of Plastic Deformation of Special Alloys, National University of Science and Technology MISIS, Moscow, Russia . ABSTRACT In the present work, a new method to predict the stress-strain curves for three-phase materials has been developed. It was applied using the example of an Mg-stabilized zirconia reinforced TRIP-matrix-composite. The content of the ceramic phase was varied between 5% and 20%, whereas the particle size of the ceramic was selec...
