Mineralogical Characterization of Sieved and Un-Sieved Samples

In the field of extractive metallurgy, mineral processing, also known as mineral dressing or ore dressing, is the process of separating commercially valuable minerals from their ores and it consists of a number of interrelated procedures. In the past, mineral processing was done by hand, while in modern times it is typically achieved through the use of heavy machinery. And modern mineral processing techniques typically use mechanized unit processes to separate minerals from ore. In order to determine the mineral quantities, liberation and association, mineralogical characterization is applied to mineral processing. And now automated mineralogical characterization by instruments such as the QEM * SCAN, the MLA and the TIMA is now quite widespread. In this paper, the authors collected samples around the flotation rougher lead concentrator circuit, which were the feed, the concentrate and the tailings of this rougher circuit. Then one representative portion of the samples was lef...

Optimization of Energy Resource Management

Optimization is essentially everywhere, from engineering design to economics and from holiday planning to Internet routing. In mathematics and computer science, an optimization problem is the problem of finding the best solution from all feasible solutions. In the context of energy resource optimization, energy resource management is an alternative to increase the productivity or decrease the energy consumption. Because the problem of energy resource management usually possesses nonlinear and unsymmetrical terms as well as multiple local solutions, it is complex and difficult to solve the problem by an exact method within a reasonable amount of time. Then the metaheuristic optimization methods are recommended, which deal with optimization problems by using metaheuristic algorithms. The metaheuristics include genetic algorithm (GA), tabu search (TS), particle swarm optimization (PSO) and harmony search (HS) and so on. In this paper, the authors proposed an application of the ad...

Acute Poisoning among Farmers by Chlorpyrifos

Poisoning is a very common phenomenon in the world, and it’s also the leading cause of unintentional death, surpassing even motor vehicle crashes. So far, poisoning is usually divided into four classes: food poisoning, drug and pesticides poisoning, poisoning of industrial chemicals and poisoning of natural toxins. And according to the onset time, it’s classified as acute poisoning and chronic poisoning. In this paper, the author reported a case of acute pesticides poisoning among farmers in Gaza Strip, Palestine and discussed the follow up treatments. In this case, the patient lost consciousness in his farm after spraying chlorpyrifos by using high volume technique at a windy day. Chlorpyrifos, an insecticide belongs to the chemical group Organophosphorus insecticides (OPI), is widely used in Gaza for pest control. After sending to hospital, some physical investigations were conducted to the patient immediately and his skin was washed with warm water containing some soups to ...

Factors Influencing the Use of Mobile Financial Services: Evidence from Taiwan

Mobile service innovation has become a critical issue in the financial sectors. Currently, many banks in Taiwan have developed various mobile services for their customers. However, mobile services in financial sectors are different from Internet services because of the mobility. First, mobile services enable mobile extensions of existing electronic services and new services that are valuable to users on the move. Second, most people have their own, personal mobile devices in the hands, but they may not have the computers with them anytime. Although consumers’ technology acceptance has been examined in the context of e-commerce, mobile financial services are gained scant attention. Thus, this study aims to explore the factors influencing the use of mobile financial services (MFS). We conducted a qualitative research in depth, and investigated a renowned bank in Taiwan which developed various MFS for customers. The findings reveal that perceived mobility and personal habit are two impor...

Human Cultural Evolution: Postmodernity as Rational Global Diversity

This paper proposes that human culture has evolved from authoritative local premodernity through rational local modernity to the coming rational global postmodernity with diverse cultural types. Premodernity, modernity, and postmodernity are the cultural adaptations to the drastic social changes from the Agricultural, Industrial, and Information Revolutions. The cultural types analogous to biological species are the nine cultural types derived from the instinctive cultural type model based on the instinctive sociality trichotomy (individualistic, collectivistic, and interdependent) and the instinctive worldview trichotomy (territorial, connective, and competitive). Western culture originated from the Middle East and Greece has competitive worldview, while Eastern culture originated from India and China has connective worldview. Different cultural types have different perceptions, moralities, religions, politics, and economies. Currently, the world is the chaotic diverse global society...

Financial Engineering, Corporate Goverance and Nigeria Economic Development

The study shows that the present Nigeria financial system is incomplete and lacking in hedging mechanism. The Nigeria financial system has only organized Money Market and Capital Market. Although these markets have proved useful in mobilizing resources for firms and governments for development and growth of the economy but they are very vulnerable and not fully developed as expected because of the absence of an organized derivatives market. Derivatives markets suppose to provide an impetus and encouragement for more investors (both local and foreign) to patronize the money and capital markets knowing the risk of their investments can be managed. Also Nigeria abundant oil and gas resources are lacking in hedging mechanism to manage the volatility of oil and gas prices in the international market which directly affect the wealth and economic development of Nigeria. Therefore, Nigeria government and corporate leaders should fast tract the establishment of derivatives exchange in Nigeria ...

Study on Cultivated Mushrooms in Malawi

Mushrooms are fleshy growths of fungus that are used as food items throughout the world. Since ancient time, mushroom has been considered as one of the important food items though some of them are found to be poisonous. With the time goes by, its consumption continues to increase due to its significant role in human health, nutrition and diseases. So cultivating mushrooms can bring considerable economic benefits. Malawi is a developing country and it is necessary for its government to take effective measures to develop economy. And cultivating mushrooms can be one of the ways, which can make the farmers earn considerable income and employ many others to improve their living condition. However, in Malawi, the wild edible mushrooms are more popular than the cultivated mushrooms, which are available only during the rainy season. In this paper, the authors studied the situation of cultivated mushrooms in Mal awi. And oyster mushroom, Pleurotus ostreatus , is the main species t...
